As a scientist, I’m interested in biodiversity and environmental change. When you start to look at things at a national level, or any large scale, you need to look at all the available data you can get your hands on. And it can be quite challenging to find the data and get the information you need. So anything that can increase accessibility to data I think is going to be a good thing for everybody. 

For community groups, it’s important because they’re collecting data generally in a more limited area. And if they want to look at how their data relates to other areas, then they can have some idea of who’s doing what around them, what sort of measurements people are making, and what the data look like. You’ve got that opportunity to put your data in some sort of wider context.
