The PEI Watershed Alliance is a non-governmental organization that oversees 24 individual watershed groups on PEI. The jurisdiction of those 24 groups covers the majority of the island, so we’ve really got great coverage of PEI and a lot of groups doing really great work. It ranges from in-stream restoration, working on fish passage, planting trees, and some are working with farmers as well to try to mitigate some of the issues that come along with farming next to streams.

There’s a lot of excitement within the Alliance about Atlantic DataStream. There have been struggles for decades to find a central hub for water data. I think it will allow much better and more effective communication around water quality in the region and in PEI specifically.
